Jingle Bells, Dave Dickey Big Band featuring Jim Martin on bass trombone
A band of giants playing music written by a giant.
One of Bob Florence's obituaries stated that he was the greatest composer/arranger since Duke Ellington. No argument here.
Heaven knows I loved this group, have many recordings- corresponded with Rob many years ago when band was live at Bermuda Onion in Toronto
What is the name of the first song?
The Goodwind Band really is awesome. they have wayne on lead trumpet AND bari sax!
Anyone know who's on piano?
Tom Petersons solo on Be-Bop Charley could have been crafted any better. So much to learn from these guys.
Very good musicians
Wow!
Scott is brilliant. My apologies for blocking the view of his slide with my head.
This man showed what one could accomplish with technique and taste.
Thank you for this video. Awesome band.
Band I used to work with
Amazing crop of musicians - playing circus music.
Sounds great; a bit disappointed with the music stands in front of their faces though.
Estos músicos son formidables., puro talento
Love Tom's work. Thanks!
I love watching the two of you play together. Fantastic complementing each other’s sound and range. I know a lot of these videos are several years old, but would love to see you guys together doing some more current things.
Thanks Mike for this series of videos from Best From the West. Found them by looking for Phil Norman ... I got to play some of his Tentet arrangements recently.
One of my favorite Florence albums Thanks!
Benge 3X. Bach 10 1/2C.
He's playing a Bach 10 1/2C mouthpiece, which was Jack Sheldon's size also. Both had great tone. It proves you don't need a large mouthpiece to sound good.
Love this tune and will be playing it (on the kit) at a gig this Friday!!
Benge 3X
Sure was sorry to see him go. For so many many years he was the pinnacle of what a great musician should be. RIP
Great!
Glen Drewes killing on trumpet. Severely missed
Is Glenn among the missing?
This needs more likeage !
Классная программа побольше такой музыки и жизнь становится более насыщенной
Tight as a nun on her first day of work. 🎺💯
Love this band. We play these fantastic arrangements. Jerry - guitarist with the London Jazz Orchestra (London, Canada)
yessah sal
Прекрасный коллектив. Импровизации не длинные что приятно Для записи маловато Bass.Очень интересно.
What is the first tune played?
Blue Room
RIP Carl , he’s in heaven playing duets with Don Fagerquiest . One of the greatest of all trumpet players !! Very much underrated . He will be missed dearly!!!
Oh is he dead already?oh so sad
Stan Kenton used to record around the corner from My Grandparents' N Bronson Ave 1922 home at Capitol Melrose at @5515 Melrose Ave, LA, Hollywood, as did Nat Cole & Sinatra, Peggy Lee & Keeley Smith, etc...
A Great guy!!! I played with him on an almost daily basis in Vegas. He played piano and I played tenor and we played his original tunes. Needless to say, I learned a lot! RIP Carl and thank you!
RIP 💙🎶💙🎺💙
R.I.P.
RIP, Carl. One of the Greats!
Hello, are you the owner of this video? Thank you for posting this up and please let me know. Ty
I did record the video, yes.
@@mkaiserme I wanted to use a clip of this video for a student mini doc. Can I get your approval for that Mr. Kaiser? TY
@@jaykolucki7118 Sure. Thanks for asking.
He was great in Buddy's band.....and good MAGICIAN
Yeah that Ido is probably one of the top upcoming jazz players in the industry. Phenomenal technicals and ideas.
I've known Scott for over 40 years, and I'm pretty familiar with his output, so it's always fun to stumble across hidden gems like this on the web....second one in two weeks!
Keep this music going! It's part of our heritage yet it'd modern It showcases the best of the best, support it. Music today rock and roll, etc still takes from Went before jazz especially. Go Gordon
Never tire of this song!🎉
Kenton alumni band -what a stupendous idea! Saw the band in the mid-seventies at the Frog and Nightgown in Raleigh -small club with outstanding acoustics -best musical night of my life!
Very nice. Who’s the arranger?
Lew Anderson.
@@mkaiserme great. Thanks for letting me know!
Jesus, Meshulam is a beast on trombone
Nice brass!! Ya wanna bet they have Drum Corps experience??
